Community Support

  • Youth Outerwear Drive:

Valley Charities, Inc. is compiling an inventory of gloves, hats, boots, coats and snow pants through donations from the Mat-Su community. The winter outerwear will be provided to individuals through the Mat-Su School District and other Mat-Su social service agencies.

  • Food Barrels Year-round:

Valley Charities, Inc. recognizes the need for feeding a growing population in the Mat-Su Valley throughout the year. The turn a leaf thrift stores will be collection points for food year round. The collected food will be donated to the Wasilla Food Pantry.

  • Medical Equipment Lending Program:

Money raised through the "turn A leaf" thrift stores helps buy walkers, wheel chairs, canes, crutches, commodes, and other items for the Medical Equipment Lending Program. The Lending Program makes equipment available for short-term use (up to one year) by anyone in the Mat-Su with a medical need.

  • Community Grant Program:

All thrift store net proceeds stay in the Mat-Su and are used for grants to organizations working with people with disabilities and to families with specific medical needs.

  • Merchandise Voucher Program

All “turn A leaf” thrift stores provide merchandise at no cost to individuals and families referred by social service organizations throughout the Mat-Su Valley.  The program is designed to support individuals and families through the tough struggles they face.
